Derby is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Adams County, Colorado, United States. The CDP is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Derby CDP has an area of 1,129 acres, including 9.4 acres of water.
Derby straddles I-76 and US 85 The community is adjacent to Dupont to the east while it borders Welby to the east. Brighton Road serves as the main thoroughfare and runs north and south. 88th Avenue emerges west from the interchange with I-27 and forms a border to the north ending at US 2. 80th Avenue emerges west from Brighton Road parallel with 76th Avenue approximately 800 meters south. 77th Avenue becomes Larkwood Street heading northeast. 76th Avenue becomes Monaco Street heading northward. 70th Avenue is the southernmost street within Derby’s borders.
Derby has several car dealers and supply stores including Texas Pipe & Supply Co, Marini Diesel Inc., Hardline Equipment LLC, Auto Body Shop, Bruckner’s Mack, Ryder Used Truck Sales, Road Bear RV Rentals & Sales, and K & K Surplus. The community is served by Dupont Elementary School on Kimberly Street and Adams City Middle School on 72nd Avenue. Stephanie’s Café on Brighton Boulevard is the only cafe in the area.
